Sister Spirit

'When you cut hair in a pigtail,’ Mum said quietly, ‘you end up with some long bits and some REALLY SHORT BITS!’

My big sister hates me. She cut off my hair, and now she won’t talk to me! But I’ve found a very useful secret. Everything is about to change.

Seems like you could have chosen a more positive role for the father especially considering how so many young girls these days need less of the negative cliche' which for many don't even hold true.

Thanks for your comment, 'Dear Author' - it definitly made me think (one of the reasons why it took me so long to reply). I agree that Cassie's dad doesn't react in the best way to her haircut. It's through his reaction that she learns not to worry so much about what other people think.
I don't for a moment intend to say that all dads are like this - Cassie's dad is just one character in a series full of parents. If you are looking for positive father-daughter relationships in the series, you might like to read 'Basketball Blues'. It has similar issues of a girl struggling with how others perceive her - however, Angie's relationship with her dad is strong, and a big part of the story.
Or let me know if you would like me to recommend other books with positive father figures - there are lots to choose from!
